Dough Ball Adventure Competition

Your Dough Ball adventure story will be judged upon the following criteria:

  • Creativity & originality: is it obvious that the story is your own and you’ve let your imagination and creative juices flow?
  • Characterisation: is your story about believable and memorable Dough Ball characters, ones that you’d love to meet in real life?
  • Plot: does your storyline have a clear beginning, middle and end full of excitement and involve challenges & twists that the Dough Ball characters need to overcome on their adventure?
  • Fun & engagement: can you simply not wait to find out what happens while reading the story? Or is it laugh-out-loud funny?

How do I enter the Dough Ball Adventure Story competition?

This competition is for our Piccolo fans, aged 5-9 & 10-12 at the time of entry who are full time residents of the UK.

To enter the competition, you have to unleash your imagination and create a Dough Ball Adventure story using no more than 200 words to submit through the entry form at milano.ie/doughballadventure.

The competition opens on Monday 24th July 2017 at 09.00am and closes on 18th September 2017 at 23.59pm.

Is there a minimum and a maximum word limit?

There is no minimum limit, however we encourage to take advantage of the maximum word limit (200 words) to expand on the storyline & characters. The title is not included in the limit.

Is there a specific format I need to write the story in?

No, your story can take any shape – prose, poetry, haiku, diary, script etc

What is the main prize and what are the weekly prizes that I can win?

When will the winner be announced?

Our weekly winners will be announced every Monday from 31st July to 25th September.

The main winner will be announced on 2nd of October.

Can I submit more than one story?

Unfortunately no, multiple entries will be rejected

What if I’ve been inspired by another story and want to use parts of it?

The best stories are all original – you must use your own imagination & creativity to come up with an original story and not copy it from somebody else or recount a real life event exactly as it happened.

What if I want to make changes to my story after I’ve submitted it?

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to make changes to the story.

Am I able to get a copy of the story I’ve submitted?

Unfortunately, due to the large number of entries, we will only be able to share the stories of the winners as we announce them.

How long do I have to wait to hear back after I’ve submitted?

Unfortunately, due to the large number of entries, we will only be contacting the winners – the weekly winners will be contacted within a week of their entry. The main winner will be contacted between 18th & 25th of September.

Can an adult write/type or correct my story?

Yes, as long as the words and story are still your own.

Does the story have to be in English?

Unfortunately we cannot accept submissions in any other language other than English.
